At QTS Maths Tutor, we strive to support students with core subjects by curating the best and most helpful revision sources. This week we are analysing revision materials for GCSE Biology. The best study materials to use often include revision notes, practice questions and practice papers. By creating revision plans and using the resources to their full potential, students can achieve higher grades with more confidence.

To get the most out of your GCSE Biology materials, you should start by using the revision notes so you become confident with the content. A lot of students waste practice papers by using them before they know the content in full, but by doing this you’re using one of the most helpful resources before you’re ready. This can also heavily affect your confidence, as if you don’t know the content you are more likely to finish with a lower grade. For GCSE Biology revision, you should aim to learn and recall key facts and then move onto practice questions once you are comfortable with the content. By using practice questions you can apply the knowledge you’ve learnt to various styles and difficulties of exam questions and problems.

Once you have completed the practice questions, you can move on to GCSE Biology past papers. After you’ve completed a paper, you should pinpoint areas where you have lost marks. This means you can easily identify key areas you need to focus on so you can avoid making the same mistakes again. When you repeat this process, you should start to notice less errors or a general increase in marks. Don’t worry if your mark drops from paper to paper, this isn’t an issue as it is more important to focus on general trends and measuring what you’ve learnt. You should feel more confident and ready for your GCSE Biology exams after completing these papers.
