National Tutoring Programme

QTS maths tutor, which is part of the MME group, has been approved by DfE as a tuition provider for the National Tutoring Programme. It’s important to note that only schools are eligible to participate in the programme, and enrollment must be completed through subject teachers rather than parents. Currently, MME offers NTP tutoring for GCSE students in maths, English, and science, and may expand the programme in the future. If you’re a parent interested in providing additional support for your child, which is fully funded through their school, we recommend contacting your child’s school directly and inquiring about MME as a provider.
Below, you will find frequently asked questions that address common concerns from parents, students and teachers.
What is the National Tutoring Programme?
The National Tutoring Programme was originally created to support students in catching up after the extended break caused by the pandemic. It has proven to be extremely beneficial and has been expanded to provide continuous support and tuition to schools everywhere. This government initiative aims to provide schools with funding to offer 1-2-1 or group tuition, ensuring that their students can achieve academic success.
How does the NTP funding work?
Under the National Tutoring Programme, schools are granted £162 per pupil to support any student in need. This funding is distributed at three intervals throughout the academic year, in September, December, and April. Schools can claim up to a maximum of £18 per hour per student for the tuition provided, which covers approximately 60% of the total tuition cost
Is the NTP tuition online or in person and is it in groups?
The National Tutoring Programme provides different alternatives including individual in person tutoring and group lessons which are conducted online. Generally, opting for in person tutoring on a 1-2-1 basis incurs a higher cost compared to joining group lessons conducted online
