How do you pass the numeracy skills test?

This is a question that many prospective trainee teachers ask as they prepare to take their professional skills tests. If you find maths difficult and you really don’t like the idea of the numeracy skills test, don’t worry as QTS Maths Tutor is here to help! The following list of things to do should help you to prepare effectively for your professional numeracy skills test.

  1. Start by learning the basics of multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, percentage, charts and tables. Many people start with revising topics like these via a qts skills test book.
  2. Make sure you use the 4 government tests but don’t overuse them. Once you’ve worked through these once or twice there is no point continuing to sit these papers to check your progress as you’ll start answering the questions from memory rather than method.
  3. Do as many online practice tests as you can, monitor your scores and revise between each test to make sure you are improving. The QTS Maths Tutor numeracy skills tests are the most up to date tests and resources you can get.
  4.  If after working through 20 practice tests you still aren’t getting to the pass mark, consider getting help from an expert tutor but only if you are really struggling as for some people the resources are sufficient to help them to pass the numeracy skills test.

If you are wondering how you are going to get through the mental arithmetic questions without running out of time or just generally how do you pass the numeracy skills test, QTS Maths Tutor is with you every step of the way!
